Yarrow Axford

Prof. Axford is an Assistant Professor in the Weinberg Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences. Shes studies climate and environmental change, primarily through the lens of paleolimnology (the study of lake sediments and past lake environments). Her current work is aimed at understanding climate change in Arctic and alpine environments. Much of her research has focused on the Holocene (the last 11,000 years of Earth's history), but she also studies timescales ranging from the Pliocene to the present.

In 2014, Prof. Axford was the recipient of the ISEN Early Investigator Award for her project "Rare Records of Last Interglacial Arctic Warmth from Northwest Greenland Lakes." The full press release for Axford's award and more details about her project can be found here.  

Axford previously received an ISEN Booster Award in 2010 for her project "Assessing the Greenland Ice Sheet's Response to Warming: A Geologic Approach."
