Executive Director of ISEN, Michael R. Wasielewski, addressed how interdisciplinary collaboration is necessary to build a sustainable future. Here is an excerpt from his Earth Month essay:
"This April marks the 52nd anniversary of Earth Month — the ideal time to consider the role each of us, as faculty, plays in the future of our planet. At ISEN, we have made great progress in our mission to advance global sustainability and energy solutions through transformational research, interdisciplinary education, and public engagement. The Institute has been host to discovery science and academic exchanges that have influenced global advancements in fields essential to a sustainable future. The research we do at Northwestern can propel innovation and inform policy.
Together we can expand on our successes and find new ways to collaborate to build a more resilient and equitable future for all."
